New research has revealed that the mismanagement of employees with mental health problems costs the UK £100million per year. A survey completed by NHS showed that 48% of staff does not feel comfortable talking with their bosses about mental health. The Head of Employment at Slater & Gordon Lawyers recently pointed out that if an employee has a longstanding mental condition that has lasted for 12 months or longer, that employee is considered disabled, under current law. Employers must offer ways to show support by allowing work from home or days off on a short notice.
