Dramatic Rise in Suicides is More Than a Mental Health Issue, CDC says

A report recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention demonstrates that suicide rates have dramatically risen across most of the United States in the past 30 years. In fact, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the country, with almost 45,000 Americans age 10 or older dying by suicide in 2016. Experts say that there rarely is a single factor that leads to suicide and that if an associate recently lost a job, ended a relationship or is experiencing some sort of life crisis, it’s important to reach out. Warning signs of suicide include increase substance abuse; feelings of purposelessness, anxiety or hopelessness; and the expression of unusual anger, recklessness or mood changes; among other red flags.
