Concealed weapons. A bill (S.2480) introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) would allow active and retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons across state lines. The officer would be required to carry a photo ID issued by the government agency for which the officer is or was employed. The law does not supersede state laws that allow individuals to prohibit concealed weapons on their property or laws that prohibit the possession of firearms on state or local government property. S.2480 has 20 cosponsors and has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The committee has held hearings on the bill but has yet to vote on the measure.
