"Violence Towards Healthcare Professionals"

My studies included research by Wykes of The Institute of Psychiatry, London, UK & Shepheard of The University of Wales. It appears the UK is far ahead of any research material regarding "Violence Towards Healthcare Professionals" than the USA. In the states there appears to be a culture of tolerance, particularly when violence towards nurses is concerned! Most Judges believe it is just part of the job. We are not required to report violence or threat of assaults to law authorities! And indeed corporate climates tend to suppress such action by nurses. Just ask any nurse who has been seriously injured at the workplace! Ask about what support systems are available? What legal recourse is offered? This is shocking; In many States it is a felony to assault a physician; but it is a misdemeanor to assault a nurse!
