NSW Teachers Federation's definition of What is workplace violence?

 

Workplace violence may take a number of forms including:

 

-   verbal abuse, which may also involve sex based harassment or homophobic

harassment.     It can involve yelling and swearing.

-   physical abuse can involve standing over, pushing, kicking, hitting,

tripping and    punching.

-   harassment such as prank phone calls, the receipt of unordered goods,

damage to   teachers property.

 

These aggressive behaviours may be directed at students or at teachers. In

some circumstances intruders or parents may act in a violent manner towards

students and/or teachers.
